- He tries to find ways to give people hope.
- He discussed two stories that were featured previously in the news.
- In one, a woman was so disfigured, her children did not recognize her.
- In the other, a woman was disfigured when a man threw acid in her face. She was upset when the government would not permit her to do the same to him.
- One was filled by anger and rage.
- The other had found hope and faith and God and love.
Stephanie and Christian Nielson
- Stephanie is a 29-year-old mother of 4.
- She lived through a horrible fire of an airplane crash and was burned over 80% of her body.
- This program isn’t focusing on the fire or its physical aftermath.
- Glenn wants to focus on how they are doing it?
- How did they survive?
- Who were they before?
- Who are they today?
- How can I do it?
- Stephanie is the author of a blog: www.nieniedialogues.com.
- She was in a medically induced coma for three months. Christian was in a coma for six weeks.
- They discussed their recovery and the reaction of their kids and others.
- They decide early on that they are burn survivors, not burn victims.
- After they woke from their comas, they both independently felt people’s prayers for them
- Glenn remarked that he felt the same after the 8/28 Restoring Honor Rally.
- He also noted that President Bush used to speak of this as well.
- Their faith in God got them through this process.
- Glenn commented on the book “The Survivor’s Club” (http://www.amazon.com/Survivors-Club-Secrets-Science-Could/dp/B004TE6O2G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306806133&sr=8-1 ).
- The author wanted to know what the survivors of various tragedies had that allowed them to come through their ordeals.
- The number one thing was faith in God.
