Glenn Beck Program, December 17, 2010

Celebrating America’s first Christmas in Wilmington, OH.

When DHL closed down their hub in Wilmington, 8,000 jobs were lost out of a population of 12,000.  The people banded together.  They supported each other.  They turned helplessness into hope.

Glenn performed a stage show last night and tonight’s program rotated between;
  • His performance on stage.
  • Video clips featuring townspeople who told their stories on camera.
  • Glenn on the set back in New York.

Stage Show – Glenn appears dressed as Santa with a sack of pretend, gift-wrapped presents.  The stage had a number of Christmas related props, e.g., Christmas trees, plants with red ribbon bows, etc.  More details are at www.glennbeck.com.

On the Santa spectrum
  • On one end you are a kid.
  • On the other end, you are Santa.
  • The problem comes when you are in the middle.  Sometimes you feel that you have given too much or that you have given too little.
  • Glenn feels that this is where we are as a country – consumed with toys.

A chalkboard was rolled out onto the stage.  Glenn wrote the following:
            Elves à Slaves
            Workß 365 days
Boss Works à 1 Day
Red Suit
Toys 4 Free  à Marxist

Then he wrote

Santa = Obama

This got a chuckle from the audience.

When Glenn was young, his grandmother would make pajamas and every year for Christmas Glenn would get pajamas for Christmas.  Strangely, they looked like his grandfather’s old flannel shirt.

Switch to video clips of townspeople telling their stories.

Colton County, where Wilmington is located, went from full employment to having the highest unemployment rate in the state of Ohio (as a result of DHL closing down their transportation hub).

Wilmington is not waiting for someone to save them.  They are going to save themselves.  Together.

Switch back to the stage show.

  1. Glenn says he is tired of being Paul Revere.
  2. We don’t have to be like every other culture in history that had a shot at greatness and came onto hard times.
  3. There is no bad experience.  It is how you react to that experience that determines if it is good or bad.
  4. Life in Wilmington is not the same as it was 5 years ago.  It is not better or worse, it is just different.

Next year, Glenn is changing the focus of the program to his “4e”.
1.      Enlightenment
2.      Education
3.      Empowerment
4.      Entrepreneur

More video clips of townspeople.

Glenn Beck Program, December 16, 2010

Guest Host:  Judge Andrew Napolitano

Interviewed Congressman Ron Paul (R)
  • The status of the Tax Bill is that the House is in recess.  What happens next is whatever the Democrats decide to do.
  • He will vote yes on the bill because it keeps taxes from going up.
  • Spending is a problem though.
  • Spending at this level cannot continue.
  • Markets are stronger than government and, at some point, they will stop buying our bonds.  Some event will trigger the decline.
  • Many people include tax cuts as spending.  He does not do that.
  • Regarding the $1.1 trillion dollar tax bill, nothing has changed.
    • It is as if the elections of 43 days ago never happened.
    • It is so complex, it is messed up.

Three Guests Discuss the Tax Bill
  • Thomas Woods – Book “Nullification” http://www.amazon.com/Nullification-Resist-Federal-Tyranny-Century/dp/1596981490/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292547081&sr=8-1
  • Charlie Gasparino – Book – “Bought and Paid For” http://www.amazon.com/Bought-Paid-Unholy-Alliance-Between/dp/1595230718/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292547116&sr=1-1
  • Steven Moore – Wall Street Journal Senior Writer

[Comments are grouped by guest.  Thus topics are commingled.]
  • Thomas Woods
    • Earmarks are a distraction.
    • Earmarks are the size of a rounding error on the Federal Budget.
    • In a few years, the payment on the debt will be $1 trillion dollars annually.
    • The Pledge the Republicans made to reduce costs was lame given the size of the problem.
    • The three words that would guarantee default are “Off the table”.  Everything needs to be on the table.
    • The arrival of the TEA Party members will probably not change the trajectory of where we are going.
    • It may take bankruptcy to get us back to what America is.
  • Charlie Gasparino
    • Representative Paul is right.
    • Bond prices are going down and yields are spiking.
    • Government is in cahoots with Wall Street in many ways.
    • In 1994, there was a Mexican peso crisis.  Everyone bet wrong and the government bailed out the Wall Street firms.  That ultimately led to the risk taking in 2008.
    • Earmark bribery always works.
  • Steven Moore
    • Americans should be appalled at the process being used for the Tax Bill.
    • It is the worst he has seen in 27 years.
    • He is disgusted.
    • There are 6,714 earmarks in the Senate version of the bill.
    • The really bad thing about earmarks is that they are used to buy votes for the expensive items in the bills.
    • He would vote for the bill, though.

Replay of a portion of the Glenn Beck interview of Jon Huntsman first aired on December 10th.
  • Author of “Winners Never Cheat” http://www.amazon.com/Winners-Never-Cheat-Difficult-Expanded/dp/0137009038/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1292548126&sr=1-1
  • Mentor of Glenn’s.
  • He complimented Glenn and called him the finest man he’s met.
  • Glenn had him discuss the sale of part of his company.
    • 40% of Huntsman’s company was being sold.
    • Agreed to price was $54 million.
    • Lawyers took six months to finalize everything.
    • During those six months, the value of that 40% increased from $54 million to $250 million.
    • Huntsman held to the original price even though the buyer suggested splitting the price increase to $120 million.

Wikileaks
  • Founder Julian Assange out on bail today in England.
  • But did he commit a crime?
  • Guests
    • Kathryn Mangu-Ward, Senior Editor, Reason Magazine
    • Leslie Marshall, Radio Talk Show Host
[Comments are grouped by guest.  Thus topics are commingled.]
Kathryn Mangu-Ward
o       If Assange is a criminal, so are Fox News and Reason Magazine.
o       She does not know if Private Manning is the original leaker, but the more the government clamps down, the more there will be.
Leslie Marshall
o       The First Amendment should apply to Assange because he is a journalist, not just an anarchist.
o       She is concerned that the focus remains on Assange and not on the original leaker, Private Manning.
o       There is a limit of how much can be released, especially if lives of soldiers are at stake.

Net Neutrality
  • Guest is Seton Motley, Editor in Chief, Stopnetregulation.org and President of Less Government.
  • Two facets of Net Neutrality
    • Tiered Pricing
      • The Left is against this.
      • It means that everyone will get the same bandwidth no matter what the user is doing, e.g., downloading a movie or sending a Twitter message.
    • Control Content
      • The Left is in favor of this.
      • No discussion on this topic.
  • Net Neutrality is a solution looking for a problem.
  • Judge Napolitano remarked that the FCC doesn’t have any authority to regulate the Internet and the way it is being run today is almost perfection.
  • The vote is scheduled just before Christmas.
  • People should complain to their Senators and Congressman.  It can be derailed easily.

Thwarted Bomb Attacks
  • Guest is Attorney Bob Barr
  • Pictures of two young men were shown.
  • Both were arrested because they were involved in a plot to use a bomb, a Weapon of Mass Destruction.
  • The Judge felt they were enticed into the plot.
  • Government many times goes after the easy targets.
  • The dummy bombs were provided by the government and wouldn’t work.
  • Many times these types of individuals are charged with conspiracy, which could keep them in jail for life.

Glenn Beck Program, December 15, 2010

This program originates from Wilmington, Ohio.  It’s being televised from the local theatre with the audience made up mostly of residents of Wilmington.

Glenn starts by introducing the audience at large to America.

He then begins to discuss Christmas.  Christmas is believing, but in what?

Me mentioned Rabbi Daniel Lapin, who has been a guest on the show several times, and how much the Rabbi has taught him about the Old Testament.  Glenn wants to learn about the whole thing from the Rabbi.

In Hebrew, the word love has, as it’s root, “I give”.

Glenn noted that he has been to Ohio a number of times and on his last book tour shook hands with about 5,000 – 6,000 people there.  He tried to look each person in the eye while doing this and noted that about 30% of the people would look away.  Not his trip.  This trip, people are not looking away as they once did.  Something is happening in Ohio.

This country can be like Europe or it can be like Wilmington.

Last year, the Sixty Minutes program visited Wilmington and the program focused on the massive layoffs and was petty depressing.  Glenn’s program is focusing on the aftermath of the layoffs, what has happened since and how the town is coping.

He then discussed his arrival in town and the places he visited and shared stories about each.
  • At the pizza parlor, there were people there from all over the country and the place was still going strong hours after it’s normal closing time of 10:00 PM.
  • At the hotel, the owner talked about how she bought the hotel on a handshake.
  • Across the street at the prayer room he discussed what they did there.
  • At the food pantry, they previously had to pray for food to go on the shelves daily.  Now, there is enough food for six months.

Glenn’s Four Miracles – Glenn discussed what he feels are four miracles that have happened while he has been in town.
    1. Two young men were in the audience.  They were both liberals and Glenn noted that there was probably little that he and they would agree on politically, but both parties were sincere about helping Wilmington recover and grow as a town.
    2. Glenn met a man in line during his book tour and the man related that this is his “First Christmas”.  He spoke about how he lost his wife to illness and was depressed for a long time.  He decided to put that painful experience behind him and restart his life, and this is the first Christmas in that new life.
    3. A man related how his business burned down.  He was contacted by a resident of Wilmington who heard of his situation, had a facility that met his needs and they struck a deal.  The man reopened his business there in Wilmington.
    4. Glenn met a family whose son had to wear hearing aids, as his hearing is only about 40% of normal.  Just prior to Glenn’s departure to come to Wilmington, he attended a meeting during which people were discussing their new hearing improvement procedure.  Glenn will be getting these people together to see what can be done for the boy.

Glenn Beck Program, December 14, 2010

There is a studio audience today.

Topic for the day is families and Christmas.

Christmas
·        Was not celebrated until 1873 in this country.
·        The Founders felt that that holiday was too sacred a date and that a celebration was too garish.
·        Congress was in session on December 15th.
·        Is a celebration of families.

Glenn is reminisced about family dinners and stories his parents told each year.

Christmas used to be about gifts from the heart.

His signature Christmas task is to make hot chocolate.  He went through the motions of making that on the set.  The real hot chocolate was delivered to the studio audience from backstage.

In the Tower of Babel story, the Jewish word for the mortar that held people (the “bricks”) together is materialism.  The situation today is similar in our society.

They brought out bags for the studio audience and Glenn talked about some of the contents.

Glenn talked about the importance of food storage to help deal with the problems that lie ahead.  He is giving food storage items to relatives this year.

Check out http://www.glennbeck.com/ for a list of Glenn’s favorite things.

He then discussed Urban Survival cards, manual and DVD.

When you give someone a book, you give him or her a whole new life and awareness.

Glenn recommended the following books:
  • Chronicles of Narnia (Boxed Set) – http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Narnia-Box-Set-Full-Color/dp/0064409392/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292378112&sr=1-1
  • Athena Project - http://www.amazon.com/Athena-Project-Brad-Thor/dp/1439192952/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292378072&sr=8-1
  • American Assassin - http://www.amazon.com/American-Assassin-Thriller-Vince-Flynn/dp/141659518X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1292378173&sr=1-1-spell
  • 5000 Year Leap - http://www.amazon.com/Five-Thousand-Year-Leap-Anniversary/dp/0981559662/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1292378205&sr=1-1
  • The Real George Washington - http://www.amazon.com/Real-George-Washington-American-Classic/dp/0880800143/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292378251&sr=1-1
  • Winners Never Cheat - http://www.amazon.com/Winners-Never-Cheat-Difficult-Expanded/dp/0137009038/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1292378288&sr=1-1
  • 8/28 Photo Book - http://www.glennbeck.com/content/books/#photobook
  • The Christmas Jar - http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Jars-Jason-F-Wright/dp/1590384814/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292378346&sr=1-1
  • Penny’s Christmas Jar Miracle - http://www.amazon.com/Pennys-Christmas-Miracle-Jason-Wright/dp/1606411675/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1292378378&sr=1-1-spell

Back on the theme of meaningful gifts, he talked about the CD that his daughter created for him where she recorded songs that contained words she wanted him to hear or that reminded her of him.

An audience member talked about her gift of organ transplants that, just in the nick of time, saved her life.

Glenn recommends adopting a military family as a way to give back to the troops.  They will feel better knowing that someone else is looking out for them.

Glenn Beck Program, December 13, 2010

We could be looking at the end of our country’s sovereignty as we know it!

No one else is covering what Glenn is on his program.

Part of the human condition is to look for things that are normal and hang on to that, even when they are not.  Things today are not normal.

Unrest in Europe is coming to America.

The band-aid fixes are not working and the band-aids are coming off.

Video Clips
  • Prince Charles and Camilla in their limo in the middle of the student led riots.
    • One rioter was even able to reach in and put a hand on Camilla.
    • Security guards were seconds away from drawing their guns.
    • Some in the crowd were shouting “Off with their heads!”
    • They were advocating for Revolution.
  • Various US political and other public figures discussing global world order, global citizenry, global etc.
  • Janet Napolitano discussing Wal-Mart and how you can contact Wal-Mart employees if you see something suspicious.

Glenn discussed global socialism.

Julian Assange
  • Founded Wikileaks
  • His stated motivation is to be a “Force for chaotic good.”
  • Glenn asks rhetorically, “When has chaos ever been ‘good’?  “Chaos for Good” will ultimately lead to more government control.
  • Vladimir Putin advocates giving Assange a Nobel Peace Prize.

Wikileaks
  • The NY Times would not publish Climategate emails because they were private and stolen.  However, they have no compulsion about releasing the Wikileaks documents even though they were Classified and stolen.
  • In Germany, if you contribute to Wikileaks, you get a tax deduction.
  • Wikileaks exposed that you cannot trust the government.
  • In the US, the goal is more transparency.  In Europe, it is more chaos.  They are not the same.

New Bill
  • The title is “Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination Act” shield Bill.
  • It makes it easier to prosecute people under the Espionage Act.
    • The Espionage Act was enacted by President Wilson.
  • The new bill gives the government more powers.

Guest – Judge Napolitano:
  • Glenn and the judge discussed the Wikileaks situation.
  • Judge Napolitano supports Assange actions to publicize government’s lies and duplicity.
  • The public should know about that.
  • The Judge feels Wikileaks is equivalent to the Pentagon Papers on the Vietnam War.
  • Glenn disagreed with the Judge because he saw that the motivation of Assange was so detrimental to an on-going society.

Pentagon Papers – The Supreme Court’s decision on the Pentagon Papers guts the Espionage Act.

Glenn discussed the largest terror attack on the US prior to 9/11.
  • It occurred during the Wilson Administration leading up to WWI.

Guest – Representative Jason Chaffetz, R Utah
  • Glenn and the Congressman discussed the tax cut bill.
  • Cost is approximately $850 billion
  • $56 billion is for unemployment payouts.
  • $300 billion is added to the debt.  In effect, this is new stimulus.
  • Glenn asks that if the bill is not right for America that Representative Chaffetz not to vote for it.  Don’t buy into the artificial deadline pressure to pass a bill that is not good.

Wilmington, OH
  • The people of the town are untied by faith, pulling together in the face of adversity.
  • The town is getting ready for Glenn’s program from there on Dec 15th and the many visitors they expect to go along with it.

Jim Wallace
  • Obama’s spiritual advisor.
  • Glenn discussed Wallace going around discussing Glenn’s criticizing and having a problem with ‘social justice’.
  • Glenn agrees that he does have a problem with the concept as defined by Wallace.
  • Glenn says the Wallace definition of social justice has the government in charge of charitable works and that Wallace is pushing that concept as he goes around to speak at various churches and institutions of faith.

Glenn then showed a clip of a Georgia minister asking his congregation if they were in favor of opening the facilities of the church to the homeless to help them get through the current and upcoming bad weather.  He got approval and the members volunteered money, supplies and their efforts to help out.  The minister did not ask for government help, they did it themselves.

Glenn Beck Program, December 10, 2010

e4 – Shorthand for a new direction for the program next year.

Things people are saying that are not true…
  • Things are bad.
  • I want to be rich.
  • Capitalists are greedy.

Tonight he will prove that the above is not true.

He discussed a few poems he used at a prior public presentation.

  • He used the money he made selling records to found his plastic business.
  • He advocates doing business ethically.

Glenn Beck Program, December 9, 2010

The Revolution is now.

(Throughout today’s program, Glenn appeared agitated and nervous.)

Do your homework.

Wikileaks is huge, but it is only a piece.

Radicals are in the government.  They are about to take off their masks.  They know change is coming and they want total control.

The new federal budget has lots of money for new regulations, but the military got the smallest raise in 50 years.

Media Reform
  • Robert Machesney, founder of the organization Free Press, says media reform is needed before revolution.
  • A video clip dated Sept 28th, 2010 shows Van Jones.  He said that during his time at the White House, he saw that there are official channels of power and unofficial channels of power.  They did not fully appreciate these unofficial channels - racial, media, etc.  This is the next frontier.
  • Mark Lloyd, FCC Commissioner discussing Hugo Chavez’s revolution.  He said that Chavez’s revolution would not have happened without control of the media.
  • The government union is now boycotting Glenn’s program as well as those of John Stossel and Rush Limbaugh.

This is the year that superpower status was transferred from the US to China.

We must know our history and traditions if the country is to remain free.  A clip of Michelle Obama was shown with her saying that we need to change our conversations, our traditions and our history.

Operation Payback
  • Hackers striking back in support of Wikileaks.
  • Wants to be “force for chaotic good”.

Glenn then showed a clip from England of rioters attack the Prince of Wales’ car.

He showed a list of logs of many groups that have come out in support of Julian Assange.  Many also supported the 10/2 rally.  They included:
    • Socialist Alliance
    • World Socialist Web Site (www.wsws.org)
    • SocialistWorkers.org
    • Socialist Party USA
    • CommonDreams.com
    • And many others

He showed a quote from Assange saying that:

“It is not our goal to achieve a more transparent society, it’s our goal to achieve a more just society.”  The objective is to cause the US to “lock down internally and balkanize”.

Glenn said that it is not about more communication, it is about less communication.

He then showed pictures of many prominent politicians that are in favor of “shutting down” Julian Assange, both Democrats as well as Republicans.

In the crisis ahead, it is important not to react as they expect.  They feed on fear and violence.

Wikileaks will be used as an excuse to control the Internet.

Life will be changing in American.

Arianna Huffington
  • Glenn showed a clip of her advocating Glenn as they would someone yelling “Fire” in a crowded theatre.
  • But, she supports Wikileaks.
  • Both Glenn and Wikileaks charge that the government is lying, but only Wikileaks is favored.  Why?
  • Glenn feels that it is because he does not support their cause and Julian Assange does,

Glenn then recommended two books that people become familiar with and for them to also expose their children and grandchildren to them as well.  They are…

He referred to George Washington’s first medal, the badge of Merit.  This badge ultimately became today’s Purple Heart Medal.

The program was continued on the Internet after the end of the hour.
